At a time when the industry is facing severe
financial crunch, members of the diamond trade are sailing in a ship without a
captain.The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC), an apex body of the
Indian gems and jewellery sector, is without a governing body as the term of
present Committee of Administration (CoA) expired on May 31 and the body is
awaiting the election dates from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
