Protection of consumer interest
I enjoyed reading the cover story 'Mandatory hallmarking a reality check' and agreed with many of the comments about its proper implementation. While there has been a significant increase in adoption of hallmarking on jewellery, the practice is currently limited primarily to organised players, thereby
exposing customers to risks related to quality and under-caratage. Mandatory hallmarking is a step in the right direction as it will protect the interests of customers.
