Reader’s Response : Protect consumer interest

Fake hallmarking of jewellery should be under the regular scrutiny of the BIS. The whole process of
testing of the jewellery as well as the marking should be done in approved assaying and hallmarking
centres. Hallmarking needs to be implemented widely so that the consumer interests can be protected
and risks related to quality and undercaratage are eliminated.
