Stringent supervision needed

Of late, there have been numerous complaints on shoddy hallmarking being conducted by hallmarking centres. Higher caratage of gold in jewellery is marked, while in reality the jewellery is authenticated to be of lower caratage. The BIS should strictly supervise the process of hallmarking and check hallmarking centres at regular intervals.
